Trade Unions for Energy Democracy
In February 2025, union leaders and allies from 35 countries convened in Mexico City for the Second Inter-Regional TUED South meeting, bringing together 120 participants. This gathering demonstrated the growing strength of the TUED South platform and the commitment of the Global South trade unions to advancing a just energy transition.

Rooted in principles of public ownership, cooperation, and long-term planning, the movement seeks to resist privatization and ensure energy remains a public good. Hosted by Mexican energy unions and their allies, the meeting provided a crucial space for unions to exchange insights on defending and expanding public control of energy. It also served as a platform to strategize for upcoming campaigns and coordinated interventions.
